Below is my first virtual conference proposal, the subject itself may be less than interesting, but it may interest others, who, like me did not know that such conferences are gaining more and more traction.

Title: Nomadic Desktops: What? How? Why?
Description: This presentation will focus on how to develop, use, and apply a nomadic desktop (http://okoj.suprglu.com/) to daily teacher tasks and to ongoing, personal professional development anywhere the teacher is online.

Develop
Here the tools and services to create a personal example of a nomadic desktop will be briefly introduced, including: Firefox, various enabling bookmarklets, RSS, Flickr, Delicious, blogs (professional development sites and student blogs), podcast, and social radio, as well as a CMS (Moodle), Gmail, Google Reader, a calendar, and a task manager.

Use
This section will explain how Suprglu (http://www.suprglu.com/) and the various web-based applications integrate to enable fairly seamless completion of information and communication tasks for work and professional development.

Application
A typical work scenario will be described to demonstrate use of the web-based desktop environment to support rather seamless completion of a common teacher task with some associated personal, professional development value as well.

Biography of presenter
I am currently working in the English Language Program at the International Christian University in Tokyo, Japan. I have taught in various positions and places for 20 years or so. I am especially interested in the social, collaborative aspects of Web 2.0 for teaching and learning. Outside work I love being by the sea best of all.
