Unworkshop3 O.James: Personal Knowledge Management (Bus Trip 3)

Hi Unworkshop3-ers,

Here is my poor contribution to this week's theme.

The idea, in short, is to build a personal portal to your professional development information sources (e.g. RSS feeds from selected blogs and watchlists) and links to the web-based services that largely replace your desktops apps. Your portal can be called up at any computer using Firefox Portable loaded onto a USB drive. Firefox itself can extended with a few extensions/plugins for improved usability, including perhaps Tab Mix Plus (restores crashed/last session), Greasemonkey and Performancing Firefox (in-browser blog editor), Firefox buttons for Del.ici.ous, Google Notebook, or any of the many others depending on your needs.

Here is my portal on Suprglu.

I call this idea the nomadic desktop in the sense that your workspace is universally accessible. I can do all my work anywhere I may be online.

For more information, this is the presentation I made at this year's BlogCon about this idea. And please feel free to email me.
